Sightseeing tour
of Moscow, the capital of Russia, is one of the largest cities
of the world. During the tour you will see the most
interesting architectural and historical monuments of the
city: the Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, the Temple of
Christ the Savior and the New Maidens’ Monastery and walking
through the most famous Moscow streets named Arbat.

The big collection of Russian icons, objects of jewelers’ art,
artistic embroidery and books of the XVI-XVIIth centuries is
kept in the museum. In the necropolis of the monastery there
are tombs of many outstanding state and public people of
Russia.

It’s the largest opera and ballet house of Russia. It was
founded in 1776 by the prince P. Urusov. The history of the
Bolshoi theatre is both majestic and confusing. The Bolshoi
theatre was repeatedly burned down, restored, reconstructed,
its troupe merged and separated. Its present-time building
exists since 1825. The capacity of the audience hall is 2155

visit at the Mariinsky Theatre.
This building was constructed in 1859 by the architect A.
Kavos. The name was given to the theatre in honor of the wife
of Alexander II. The theatre was solemnly opened on October,
2, 1860 with M. I. Glinka's opera "Life for the Tsar".
E.Lavrovskaya, F.Shalyapin and M.Kshesinskaya, A.Pavlova and
V. Nizhinsky perfomed successfully on its stage. This visit is
an exclusive opportunity to learn about the preparations for
performances, to visit the stage, the make-up rooms, and to

Day 11:

music at the Philharmonic society named after D. D.

Optional tour:
Visit of the
Petersburg subway. This is the deepest
underground system in the world. Although it’s not as famous
as that of Moscow, the Petersburg underground is probably even
more beautiful. You’ll take an electric train along one of the
four lines of underground which was opened in 1955, and which
connected the largest industrial enterprises of the city with
the residential quarters. For this reason Stalin named it the
National palace. The stations are built with various kinds of
marble, mosaics, stained-glass windows and paintings, which
amaze with their magnificence.
