Itinerary
Day 1 - London - Shakespeare Country (Coventry)
Our first
stop today is the University town of Oxford. There's a chance
to walk the cobbled streets before we continue through the
rolling Cotswold Hills to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's
birthplace. Finally we arrive in our hotel in
Coventry. (Dinner)
Day 2 - Shakespeare Country ( Coventry) - Leeds
Our day begins with seeing Coventry’s two Cathedrals, learning
of the horrific World War II bombing raids. Next we continue
to Viking York where an orientation tour shows us the gothic
Minster and the 11th century 'Shambles'. Then we head to our
hotel in Leeds. (Full Breakfast /Dinner)
Day 3 - Leeds - Edinburgh (Falkirk) (2 nights)
After
breakfast we travel to the city of Durham, with its Cathedral
and castle set high above the River Wear. We continue through
the Northumberland National Park and into Scotland, stopping
to view the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, en route to Airth
Castle. (Full Breakfast)
Day 4 - Edinburgh sightseeing & at leisure
We drive to nearby Edinburgh where our sightseeing shows us
Princes Street, the Royal Mile and views of the castle. Then
free time to perhaps potter around the Grass Market or visit
Holyrood House. Later, you have the option of a night out with
Highland dancing, bagpipes and regional specialities such as
Haggis. (Full Breakfast)
Day 5 - Edinburgh (Falkirk) – Chester (Runcorn)
Today, we drive through the Southern Uplands to Moffat
Woollens en route back into England. Then we enjoy a scenic
drive through the Lake District stopping in Grasmere. Along
the shores of Windermere and through pastures, reminiscent of
Wordsworth's great poetry to Runcorn, near Chester, for dinner
and overnight stay.(Full Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Chester (Runcorn) – Dublin (2 nights)
We're off to the centre of Roman Chester this morning, with a
chance to admire its Tudor architecture and galleried shops
known as the 'Rows'. From here we skirt the Snowdonia National
Park to Holyhead where we board our ferry and cruise to
Ireland. On arrival we board our coach and continue to Dublin
for our two-night stay (Full Breakfast)
Day 7 - Dublin sightseeing & at leisure
Trinity College, Phoenix Park and more will feature on our
morning sightseeing tour in this 'fair city'. With time at
leisure you may wish to visit an Irish stately home or shop
for fine linens and tweeds in O'Connell Street. (Full
Breakfast
Day 8 - Dublin - Ennis
Today our journey takes us across rich farmland to Galway.
Here there's time to view the Cathedral before we continue our
drive alongside Galway Bay. From here we continue to Ennis
where we spend the night. (Full Breakfast/ Dinner)
Day 9 - Ennis - Limerick - Waterville (Kerry)
This morning we drive to nearby Limerick, where a short
orientation shows us St. Mary's Cathedral and King John's
Castle. Then there's time perhaps to visit Bunratty Castle and
Folk Park before we begin our drive via the prettiest village
in Ireland, Adare, en route to Killarney. We drive around the
'Ring of Kerry' with magnificent scenery including plunging
cliffs, granite mountains and enthralling seascapes. Later on
to Waterville for the night. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 10 - Waterville (Kerry) - Cork - Waterford
Today we travel into County Cork, stopping at Blarney Castle
to kiss the famous stone
and acquire the 'gift of the gab'. From here it's on to Cork,
where an orientation tour shows us the City Hall and St.
Anne's Shandon Church. Finally on to Waterford, home of the
world-renowned crystal, before we arrive at our hotel (Full
Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 11 - Waterford - Cardiff
In the morning we travel to Rosslare to board our ferry to
Fishguard in South Wales. On arrival we make our way to Tenby,
where there's time to stroll along the front in this
attractive seaside resort. Next we drive to our hotel in
Cardiff. (Full Breakfast)
Day 12 - Cardiff - Bath - London
Orientation in the Welsh capital, Cardiff shows us the
Millenium Stadium and the historic castle.
Then we cross the River Severn into England and the city of
Bath. Here we see the Royal Crescent with time to walk the
Georgian streets. Next we continue our journey past mysterious
Stonehenge to Salisbury where we view its impressive Cathedral
before returning to London. (Buffet Breakfast)
